H&S/ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER - HSEO1-17

The role:

 

  • Provide leadership and effective hands-on management to improve standards through rigorous implementation of H&S and Environmental policies and procedures
  • Work with Management at all levels to agree operational objectives, priority areas and targets
  • Continually review, challenge and develop new and practical approaches in line with statutory requirements and best practice
  • Liaise with statutory/regulatory bodies, customers and suppliers
  • Promote a safety conscious culture through effective dialogue, presentation and reporting
  • Continuously monitor compliance, encourage positive attitudes and develop and deliver relevant training across all levels
  • This position, reporting to the Production Director, offers both challenging projects and the opportunity to develop and enhance existing skills


The person:

 

  • Proven track record of effective H&S / Environmental management, driving change and improvement through best practice
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills with the credibility and energy to make an immediate impact at all levels
  • Ideally 3 years recent experience in a H&S position preferably within a manufacturing environment
  • Be prepared to work with shop floor safety action teams on a daily basis and challenge inappropriate practices
  • Ideally hold a degree and/or a specialist H&S qualification e.g. NEBOSH Diploma
  • Knowledge of current and impending legislation and implications will be considered a given
  • Experience of chairing H&S committees / management meetings and daily interaction with shop floor
