One of the busiest stations on the West Coast Line, the Leighton Buzzard railway station has been transformed into a bright and inviting station, thanks to Mardome rooflights from Brett Martin playing a key part in the refurbishment.

When the original dome rooflights at Leighton Buzzard became so badly discoloured after years of exposure to the elements, particularly damaging UV rays, they became unsightly to look at as well as ineffective at delivering the daylighting levels required over the ticketing and passenger concourse areas directly underneath.

Project consultants TTPP specified Brett Martin rooflights for this very unusual roof layout with its lattice arrangement of rooflights. As only the glazing element of the rooflights needed replacing Mardome Reflex was the perfect solution and technical experts from Brett Martin carried out a site survey and subsequent visit to replace one of the original domes, ensuring a perfect fit before manufacturing 130 Mardome Reflex rooflights for the whole roof.

Supplied with double skin clear polycarbonate the Mardome Reflex rooflights come with co-extruded UV protection to protect the rooflights for at least 20 years.

The makeover at Leighton Buzzard Station now provides a whole new visitor experience for its customers; whilst for the station a reduction in the artificial lighting provides the opportunity to reduce running costs.
