Cascade Makes the Grade in Luxury Housing Development

Hampton Grange Cascade

The specification of a rainwater system at a development of luxury homes and for the conversion of a Grade II listed school into apartments in South East London had to not only meet the aesthetic requirements of the developer but also had to provide exceptional performance and ease of installation to match - Brett Martin’s Cascade Cast Iron Style Rainwater System met the challenge.

A short commute to central London, Bellway Homes’ Hampton Grange Development in Bromley features 11 luxury detached homes and 20 apartments which form part of the conversion of a Grade II listed former school.  To respect the character of the former listed school, Bellway Homes required a cost-effective, high capacity rainwater solution which had the look and feel of cast iron but offered the long-term benefits of plastic and Cascade was the first choice solution.

For the steeply sloped mansard roof of the school conversion and the high specification five bedroom homes, the developer specified the Deepstyle 115mm gutter profile and 68mm round downpipes in Classic Black, which provided the high capacity rainwater requirement and had the authentic detailing and finish they were looking for. The system was architecturally sympathetic to the listed conversion and struck the right balance with the new build homes.

Commenting on the installation for the apartment building, Richard Fisher of Watkins Plumbing and Heating said: “The developer was going for a traditional cast iron look- alike and Cascade met their requirements. We had no major issues with the installation of the system, which was very easy to install and looked stunning.”

The Cascade Cast Iron Style Rainwater System is ideally suited to both refurbished period and new build properties, combining old style detailing or a sympathetic touch, with high levels of roof drainage.

The Deepstyle 115mm profile used in this application is a semi-elliptical system and is designed to offer effective rainwater drainage on larger or steeper residential roofs with the potential to reduce downpipes due to higher capacity, which can provide substantial cost reductions and appearance improvements.

Significantly lighter than cast iron rainwater systems, Cascade is quicker, easier and safer to install at a height, helping to offer huge efficiencies in terms of on-site installation costs. The system features external fixing lugs which enable easy power tool access, further speeding up installation. All gutter fitting joints have integral seals and flexible retaining clips, allowing the gutter lengths to simply click into place.

Manufactured in weatherable uPVC, and complete with a 10-year warranty, Cascade is available in the new Anthracite Grey colour along with Classic Black, Oxford Blue, Olive Green, Graphite Grey, Sandstone and Porcelain White heritage colour options.

With Brett Martin’s Cascade Cast Iron Style Rainwater system in place, this stunning new development will benefit from an aesthetically pleasing and trouble-free rainwater drainage for years to come.
