Cascade Creates a Period Property Fit for Shakespeare

Traditional Farm House, Cascade Rainwater System

A new property in Stratford-upon-Avon is benefiting from the installation of Brett Martin Plumbing & Drainage’s Cascade cast iron style rainwater system, by helping it achieve the aesthetics of a traditional farm-house building, without the financial cost associated with real cast iron.

Set in 1.44 acres of land, the house itself has a rural feel and it was therefore necessary to help maintain this appearance by installing a guttering system that would fit in with the surrounding landscape.

The Brett Martin Plumbing & Drainage Cascade range is manufactured from PVC meaning it is lightweight, quick and easy to install yet it retains all the aesthetic features associated with traditional cast iron systems. Available in Classic Black, Oxford Blue, Olive Green, Graphite Grey, Sandstone and Porcelain White, the Cascade range is suitable for installation on a wide variety of properties.

Due to these intrinsic qualities, it was ideal for use on Underhill House as it helped transform a new build property into a traditional looking building with architectural character.

Nathan Gilbert of CE Gilbert & Son commented, “Having used Brett Martin’s Cascade guttering on previous projects, we knew that it would be suitable for use on Underhill House. The fact that it is manufactured from lightweight PVC means the installation process is far quicker and easier than using traditional cast iron. The extensive range of hoppers, downpipes and fittings ensures that the guttering always looks purpose made for the property in question which fits in with our build ethos.”

The cost advantages in selecting a PVC alternative to real cast iron are a key benefit of Brett Martin’s Cascade system. Material cost saving is combined with the associated labour and time savings of a lightweight product that requires less time to install. It is safer to work with, especially at height, while external and accessible fixtures allow for swift and simple access for power tools.

Brett Martin’s Cascade range is UV stabilised and it will not rust or corrode over time, allowing the system to be underpinned by a standard 10-year product warranty for added peace of mind.

Graham Smith, Sales Director of Brett Martin Plumbing & Drainage, said, “Due to the scale of Underhill House, the Deepstyle system was installed as it is manufactured to handle a higher rainwater capacity from larger roofs. As is the case with many new build houses constructed in rural locations, it is necessary to incorporate modern materials that offer traditional aesthetics and as such, the Cascade range is ideal for use on all properties of this nature.”
