Scoil Bhride Junior School, Donaghmede

Scoil Bhride Junior School, Donaghmede

Fifty two Mardome Trade dome rooflights were installed on the newly refurbished roof of Scoil Bhride Junior School, Donaghmede in North Dublin.

Located in the Donaghmede Parish, the school first opened its doors in 1974 and in 2010 required a major roof refurbishment which involved replacing existing rooflights with Mardome Trade dome rooflights. Areas directly underneath the rooflights, including many classrooms, were totally transformed into bright and airy spaces. Research has scientifically proven that students in naturally daylit interiors perform much better than those in classrooms where artificial lighting is the main light source.

The Mardome Trade is the standard dome in the next generation Mardome range and three sizes were specified for this project:

  • 600mm x 600mm
  • 1200mm x 600mm
  • 1200mm x 1200mm

The domes were also specified with direct fix kerbs for fixing to builder’s upstands; triple skin, clear polycarbonate glazing, outer in textured option to assist privacy and standard trickle ventilation to assist with adequate air flow – all providing a comfortable internal environment.
