Product: Marlon Clickfix 1040

Completed: 2014

Brett Martin has provided the Marlon Clickfix 1040  polycarbonate glazing system for the new ‘carbon neutral’ Sainsburys store in Leicester, helping to create a bright, appealing and naturally-lit working environment for the supermarket employees.

The new 81,700 sq foot flagship store on the edge of the city is one of the retailer’s most sustainable stores, featuring an innovative hybrid timber frame as well as eco initiatives including combined cooling, heat and power (CCHP), rainwater harvesting and a petrol filling station that incorporates PV panels within the glazed canopy. Central to the design of the store’s loading bay area was the requirement for natural light, with 480m2 of Marlon Clickfix 1040 polycarbonate panels  in glass clear effect ensuring this highly trafficked area of the supermarket is bright, appealing and flooded with natural light.

Marlon Clickfix also ensured a simple, hassle-free installation for specialist contractor Angus Roofing. Consisting of damage resistant Marlon Clickfix 1040  multiwall polycarbonate panels and utilising Marlon Clickfix VF glazing bar profiles for vertical glazing applications,  the system is designed to simply click and fix together to create seamless façades.

With the installation of Marlon Clickfix in the back of house area of Sainsbury’s, Brett Martin continues to make a contribution towards improving daylighting levels,  reducing energy use and the overall carbon footprint of a wide spectrum of building types.
