Fairfields

Brett Martin’s Cascade cast iron effect rainwater system has helped bring together traditional design and modern performance at an exclusive housing development in rural Cumbria.

Located in the village of Hayton near Carlisle, Fairfields is a collection of nine four-bedroom homes built by Anvil Homes. Designed with traditional stone elevations, slate roofs and sash windows, the development called for a rainwater system that would match the classic appearance of cast iron while delivering the practical benefits of modern materials.

With large, steep roofs across the properties, a higher-capacity solution was also required. Brett Martin’s Cascade 115mm Deepstyle gutter system, paired with 68mm round downpipes in Classic Black, provided the ideal balance of performance and appearance. The semi-elliptical profile offers improved drainage, while the lightweight design made installation quicker and easier on site.

Having used the system on previous projects, Anvil Homes selected Cascade for its reliability and authentic cast iron look. As Andrew Carr, Director at Anvil Homes, explains, it delivers the right combination of aesthetics and ease of installation, helping projects stay on track.

The system is also UV stabilised and maintenance-free, ensuring long-lasting performance and appearance, supported by a 10-year guarantee.

With the development now complete, Fairfields successfully combines traditional style with modern building performance, with Cascade playing a key role in achieving both.
