Brett Martin’s Marlon CS crowns Everton’s new stadium
Brett Martin has supplied its Marlon CS polycarbonate corrugated sheeting for the entire interior roof of Everton Football Club’s new stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock in Liverpool. Selected by architect BDP Pattern, the transparent lightweight panels maximize daylight transmission, supporting a healthy pitch and offering cover for spectators.
Built on one of Liverpool’s listed yet semi-derelict docks, the new stadium replaces Goodison Park, Everton’s historic home since 1892. The new stadium not only provides modern facilities and a world-class football experience but will also act as a catalyst for local regeneration, creating jobs and boosting tourism in the area.
Designed by architect Dan Meis, the stadium features a contemporary metallic barrel roof that floats above a traditional brick base. The design of the roof was carefully considered to maximise spectator enjoyment and provide unobscured views of the pitch from every seat.
Brett Martin’s Marlon CS polycarbonate corrugated sheeting was selected to deliver a lightweight, transparent solution that would provide cover for spectators whilst facilitating almost 90% light transmission. A dual-sided UV coating also provides maximum protection for fans, reducing the need for artificial lighting while safeguarding the natural grass pitch below by minimising shading throughout the day.
Throughout installation, Brett Martin supported Lindner Prater with wind load calculations, assistance with profile selection and advice for the best installation. The wind in particular provided a consistent challenge throughout the project. Much of the stadium was prefabricated and lifted into place when weather permitted.
