Richmond Lending Library

World War 2 damage repaired by Brett Martin Dual Pitch rooflight

Richmond Lending Library was built in 1881 and is London’s oldest operating Library. A refurbishment was recently undertaken to repair damage originating from WWII which was never fully repaired. A beautiful Dual Pitch rooflight was designed by Brett Martin’s bespoke projects team to provide a permanent fix to damage caused in 1940.  The impressive 23m structure is fitted with 8 vents, and towers over the main library floor. This solution is not only weatherproof but allows natural daylight to flood into the building.
