Energysaver lights the way for stunning super-warehouse
Over 13,000m2 of Trilite GRP triple skin Energysaver FAIRs were commissioned to bring natural diffused daylight into the enormous new build Range Distribution Centre at Central Park in Avonmouth. Home to a leading homeware retailer, this 111,000m2 warehouse covers an impressive amount of ground - equivalent to the size of 15 Wembley Stadiums.
Central to its design was a rooflight solution that minimised the use of artificial lighting so reducing running costs associated with such an enormous building. The specification for the 80mm-thick composite panel roof included Brett Martin GRP Trilite Energysaver rooflights to bathe the building in natural sunlight and achieve an excellent U-value of 1.3W/m²K. The FAIRs were built-up using a 3.0kg/m2 Trilite GRP sheet to ensure fast, reliable weatherproofing and allow the highest quality natural daylight into the interior of this widespan building.
At 1.2 million sq. ft. and a cost of £100 million, the Range is the largest ever distribution warehouse in the region. It has been constructed to respond to changes in consumer shopping habits and will serve to boost the significance of the location as a natural distribution hub.
